How much does a SWPPP cost?

A consultant-prepared SWPPP for a small site is commonly quoted at around $497 — a market figure we have not re-verified; SwpppDraft intends to charge $99 for the plan and $149 with the forms pack, and is not open for sale yet, so nothing can be bought here today.

Where these numbers come from

The $99 and $149 are ours: they are what SwpppDraft intends to charge, and they are what this pre-launch site exists to test. Nothing is charged today, so they are an intention rather than a price.

The $497 is not ours and is the weaker number. It comes from our own review of what incumbent SWPPP services advertise, it has not been re-checked since, and we have not surveyed the market systematically. Treat it as the order of magnitude a consultant quotes for a small site — not as a figure to budget against. Get your own quote.

What you are paying for, in either case

The work in a small-site SWPPP is not creative. It is transcribing site facts into a fixed federal structure, attaching the right state clause, and listing the controls you already intended to install. A consultant charges for doing that transcription and for carrying the professional judgement that a self-prepared plan leaves with you.

In the nine states that require a licensed professional, the consultant fee is not optional and no tool can remove it. Those states are listed with the clause that requires it.

What SwpppDraft costs today

Nothing, because checkout does not exist. The questionnaire and the generator run in your browser and produce a watermarked draft; there is no payment path anywhere on this site, and the intended prices above are what we are testing rather than a live offer.

Questions people ask

Is there a free SWPPP template?
Plenty, and they are genuinely free. What they are not is filled in: a template is the empty structure, and every site-specific fact — the map, the phases, the controls, the receiving water, the state clause — is still yours to write.
Does a cheaper plan mean more risk?
It means the responsibility sits with you rather than with a consultant. That is the trade this product makes, and it is the reason we say so on every page instead of promising an outcome.

What we are, and what stays your responsibility

  1. SwpppDraft is a document generation tool. It does not provide engineering services, legal services, or compliance consulting, and no engineer or attorney reviews what it produces.
  2. Everything in the document is built from the site facts you enter. Checking that those facts are right, and that the resulting plan fits your project, is yours to do.
  3. We do not file anything on your behalf, we do not certify or endorse your compliance, and we accept no liability for what happens when you use the document.
  4. State-level requirements carry the date we verified them. County and city rules are not covered — some local jurisdictions require a licensed preparer even where the state does not, and you have to check that yourself.
  5. When the product opens, our total liability will be capped at the amount you paid us. Today that amount is zero, because nothing is for sale.
